My projects

Books, tools, and campaigns I founded, co-founded, or set in motion.

I am an Amsterdam-based activist entrepreneur. The Social Code is my experiment in creating and funding public-interest work without venture capital — and in giving the people affected by a technology a say in how it is used.

These projects sit at the intersection of ethical technology, (sexual) education, and feminist and queer organising. Privacy tools, language campaigns, books, and community spaces are how that experiment shows up in public.

Schaamteloos

Emancipation through language — shame-free words for sexuality and bodies.

In Dutch, labia are still often called schaamlippen — literally “shame lips”. Schaamteloos invites everyone to say vulvalippen instead: anatomically accurate, stigma-free, and normal to use in conversation.

From childhood we learn a whole family of schaam- words (schaamhaar, schaambeen, schaamstreek, schaamlippen) that tell us not to talk about natural body parts. Sexologist Ellen Laan helped put vulvalippen into public use; a collective of Pleasure Society, The Oh Collective, The Vulva Gallery, and The Social Code Foundation — later joined by Dolle Mina — turned it into a national campaign.

On schaamteloos.org you can pledge “I’m in”, share the action, and help get vulvalippen into everyday speech and writing — including the Dikke Van Dale, where the word is now on its way in.
