Mission
The foundation's purpose is to build an egalitarian world where everyone can share equally in the benefits that technology can offer humanity.
This means influencing how decisions are made about the technologies that fundamentally reshape our society, and giving citizens—as the largest stakeholders—an active and direct voice in a decision-making process that is usually dominated by small groups of individuals within governments, industry, and influential organizations.
The Social Code contributes to a society in which the collective builds the technological landscape: one that benefits everyone, strengthens the democratic rule of law, and prevents power and wealth from concentrating in the hands of a few at the expense of the many.
The Social Code pursues these goals through, among other things, running awareness campaigns, creating and offering tools that give its principles real force, and supporting initiatives whose objectives or practices align with those of the foundation—all in the broadest sense of the word, connected to or in furtherance of this overarching mission.
The foundation serves the public interest and is not-for-profit.
