About
I am an Amsterdam-based activist entrepreneur. The Social Code is my experiment in creating and supporting public-interest technology without venture capital, and in giving the people affected by a technology a say in how it is used. My work sits in ethical technology and (sexual) education, with a focus on feminist and queer entrepreneurship.
Founder of Stichting The Social Code, a foundation for social equality. Publisher at This is us Books, the publisher behind The Vulva Gallery and You’re Welcome Club by Sam Hil Atalanta. Co-founder of De Correspondent, where I served on the board for eight years. In 2024 I co-founded the Saarein Foundation, where I am treasurer, to keep Café Saarein — a women’s and queer café opened in 1978, during the second feminist wave. With Rémi Bouwer and Lotte Hendriks I published the illustrated book Ik wil je iets vertellen, which helps children and their caretaker talk about traumatic experiences.
