Ik wil je iets vertellen — created by clinical psychologist Lotte Hendriks and Rémi Bouwer of Dolly Warhol — is a Dutch hardcover picture book that gives children words for hard things.
Through the story of Doris, a boy who loves throwing pine cones with his friends but has been through something he can’t yet name, the book helps young children start the conversation — and helps the grown-ups around them listen well. Written for ages 3 and up, published by Uitgeverij Dolly Warhol.
When children can tell their story — and the people around them respond well — the chance of developing PTSD drops significantly.
But asking children about trauma still feels taboo, and grown-ups often don’t know how to begin. This project lowers that bar. The companion site offers the story for free in ten languages, narrated by well-known Dutch voices, alongside a practical roadmap, PTSD screener and reading guide for parents, teachers and caregivers.
